Noise

Living Environment ProgramNoise is an increasingly significant environmental issue due to increases in ambient noise levels, new sources of noise and emerging evidence of adverse health impacts.

Neighbourhood Noise Support Program

The number of noise complaints received by State and Local Government shows that noise is an important issue for many in the community.

Local Government deals with most community noise issues, such as the control of neighbourhood noise and noise from light industry, but is often poorly equipped to deal with many situations.

The Living Environment Program project will increase the capacity of Local Government to effectively deal with noise issues in the community by developing improved tools, training and resource materials specifically designed for use by council officers.
