Community Grants - Living Environment Program
The successful grants recipients were announced in early February 2006.
The good work of not-for-profit and community organisations in managing Tasmania's environment is recognised by the Tasmanian Government.
To help non-Government groups fulfil their vital roles, a grants program was established as part of the Living Environment initiative of the State Budget.
Living Environment Program
It's for community groups providing services directly aimed at enhancing the quality of Tasmania’s environment. A total of $275,000 was made available each year for the next three years.
These grants are to support the core administration and management of non-Government groups so that they:
- Maximise services to deliver the most effective environmental outcomes
- Ensure the ongoing sustainability of the organisation
- Submit quality applications to increase success for external funding for environment specific projects
- Improve their financial management and accountability
- Increase the overall credibility and effectiveness of environmental works and programs, and their benefit to the community
