Noise Policy
The Environment Protection Policy (Noise) came into effect on 29 May 2009, after being signed by the Governor on 23 March 2009 and approved by both Houses of Parliament.
The Policy is an amended version of the Draft Environment Protection Policy (Noise) that was released for public comment in December 2006.
The Policy sets a strategic framework for noise management in the State by focussing on objectives and principles for noise control, with human health as a value to be protected. It does not include implementation measures, as these are dealt with through other instruments such as the noise regulations.
