The state of Tasmania's environment is important to the health and safety of all Tasmanians. We aim to ensure that our environment is clean and healthy by protecting our air, water, soil and ecosystems, and by avoiding and remedying adverse effects of activities on the environment. Sustainable business practices are also important to maintaining Tasmania's healthy environment as is balancing environmental protection with social and economic development.
We look after these important aspects of managing the Tasmanian natural environment:
Clean air is one of our most precious resources, essential for our survival and quality of life. The EPA Division has taken decisive measures in recent years to improve air quality in our urban and rural areas.
If you are concerned about air quality or have a specific air pollution problem you need assistance with, go to the Section Reducing Local Air Pollution. This Section suggests actions you can take and where you should go for further assistance.
Latest Projects
The EPA Division has developed an educational web site dealing with air quality issue for Tasmanian schools.
Current air quality data is now available from the major air stations and from the BLANkET network.
